Description: Forests of Australia 2018 has three national forest categories, Native forests, Commercial plantations, and Other forests. Native forest is divided into eight national native forest types defined by dominant species and structure (Acacia, Callitris, Casuarina, Eucalypt, Mangrove, Melaleuca, Rainforest, and Other native forest), and Commercial plantations has three types (Hardwood, Softwood, and Unknown or mixed species). The category Other forests comprises all forest that is not native or commercial plantation. It includes mostly non-commercial plantations such as environmental plantings, planted forests of various types, and non-planted forests dominated by trees of introduced species.
